FLL Open International Championship Greece 7.-12.5.2026
Thursday 7.5.
Our journey began at three o'clock at night, when taxi Lassi Virtanen drove us to the airport. After a layover in Copenhagen we got to Athens about two o'clock. We brought our luggages to a hotel and went to look for food, because everyone was super hungry. We had a few hours to see Athens before it was time to go back to the hotel and go to sleep after a long day.
Friday 8.5.
Morning begun with local bakery's delicious products. After breakfast we hopped on a bus, which rode us and three other teams to The Ranch, the place where the competition was. In a bus we had time to get to know other teams while the party was going on.
In The Ranch we ate and built our pit. We talked with other teams too and had fun. At nine o'clock bagun the opening ceremony, where all the teams were introduced in a parade. The atmosphere was amazing. After midnight we started to go to sleep.
Saturday 9.5.
Our Saturday morning started with a tasty breakfast and a practise run in robot game. Morning went with robot runs and fixing them when needed. We still had time to have fun with other teams. Our runs went fine and our last run was in the evening so we had a plenty of time to tell about our Innovation Project, learn new dances with other teams and make new friends.
In the evening we had our last run and we got the best points in this season, 480. We were so happy.
After dinner we had Frienship Night. There we played and danced with others. After Frienship Night we played football with Kazakhs and danced until long to the night with other teams.
Sunday 10.5.
In Sunday morning we had our judging sessions for our Innovation Project and Robot Design.
After them we had Alliances Cup - a competition where two teams are in the same robot game table and they have 1,5 mins to gain as many points as possible with their robots. Our partner was team Juicebox Robotics from USA. Eight teams, who got most points went into Knock Out -competition, where we found out, who gets into a bronze battle and who competes for gold. We thought that the game was incredible.
We ate lunch with Juicebox Robotics and after the lunch was Cooperation Game. There we had to solve different tasks with other teams.
At nine o'clock (or little bit later, because some teams were always late) we had our closing ceremony. After the Team Parade we had the most exciting part: awards. We were little bit amazed when we found out that we won bronze in Alliances Cup. We also got the second place in Rising All-Star Award -category. After the award we had time to dance and celebrate with other teams for a long time. About one o'clock our coach made all of us to go sleep, because we would have a trip on Monday. Even though the party continued to the night, we got a little bit of sleep.
Monday 11.5.
Because we stayed late awake the night before, we all were super tired. We still had a day trip to Acropolis and a bus tour around the Athens. The day was interesting and it was nice to see the city. We also had time to see shops and buy souvenirs. In the evening before going to sleep we visited in the beach.
Tuesday 12.5.
Everyone were tired when we travelled back to Finland. In the airplane we still had fun time when we talked about the competition. We were home about five o'clock in the evening.
